Rainboots and Raincoats for the Dumagats

The Dumagats living in Norzagaray, like many indigenous groups in the Philippines, face specific challenges due to weather conditions:

  • Typhoons and Heavy Rains: The Philippines is in the typhoon belt, experiencing frequent typhoons and heavy rains. This leads to flooding, landslides, and damage to their homes and livelihoods.
  • Lack of Adequate Shelter: Many Dumagats live in simple dwellings that are not always able to withstand harsh weather conditions. This can lead to exposure to the elements, health problems, and discomfort.
  • Limited Access to Resources: Their remote location often limits access to essential resources like healthcare, education, and even basic necessities like food and water.
  • Impact on Livelihoods: Their livelihoods, often based on farming and fishing, are heavily impacted by extreme weather. Flooding can destroy crops, while typhoons can damage fishing boats.

The iVolunteer donations of rainboots and raincoats provide a practical solution, helping the Dumagats cope with these challenges and stay safe during inclement weather.

Hope we can give the rainboots and raincoats before the rainy season starts. Thank you very much
