What is a Lightning Talk?
A Lightning Talk is a very short presentation, lasting only a few minutes, given at a conference or a similar forum. For this Lightning Talk, speakers are given 15 minutes to cover their topic, and the audience is provided 5 minutes to ask questions or share their insights to the rest of the group. All Lightning Talks feature the unique volunteer journeys of invited guests, with the hope that they inspire others to also take on the challenge of volunteering for nation building.
Who is Kem Tanaleon?
Kem Tanalion is currently a technical staff in Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, and at the same the Regional Coordinator for Let's Do It Philippines. In her spare time, she enjoys reading books and volunteering. She believes that “nothing good comes without a cost”.
Who is Let’s Do It PH?
Let’s Do It! Philippines is a nationwide civic-led mass movement to clean the entire country in one day during World Clean Up Challenge on September 20, 2015. It aims to mobilize five million Filipinos across the nation to unite and make the grassroots action to combat illegally disposed solid waste.
This civic-led mass movement started in Estonia during 2008 when 50,000 people gathered to clean up their entire country in just five hours. It is now an international movement with 113 countries working together, engaging over 11 million participants.

What do I need to do?
- Be among 40 individuals to participate in an intimate discussion about volunteerism through the eyes of Kem Tanaleon of Let’s Do It PH
- Do maximize the opportunity of learning about Kem’s volunteer journey or Let’s Do It PH’s advocacy by asking questions, and even sharing your personal insights during the Q&A session
- Invite your friends and family to also join the talk, as well as visit the advocacy areas found throughout the Go Volunteer Expo
Is there a fee for the event?
- Nope! The talk is for free! You can also check out and sign up for other talks scheduled for the weekend.
