Volunteer Event
Pangarap Foundation
The Sons of Mary set up Pangarap Foundation in 1989, and in partnership with Ina-Anak, Inc. and the Ladies of Charity of Pasay, commenced its work with street children and out of school youths and their families in Pasay City, Manila. Many of our original beneficiaries came from nearby slum dwellers located at a reclamation area that has since been developed into a commercial and retail centre. Others came from nearby provinces, the Visayas and Mindanao, as well as various locations within Metro Manila.
Having been relocated in the early 1990s to a resettlement area in Paliparan, Dasmariñas City, Cavite, the families, and the boys from the Shelter who had moved with them, continued to be monitored by our social workers. Following a community survey in 1995, Pangarap Foundation initiated the Paliparan Community Development Program to assist the parents, with the objective of ensuring that their children did not return to the streets. Nevertheless, the shelter program continues in Pasay with a full complement of staff caring for an average of 100 children.
Pangarap Foundation Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit social welfare institution based in Pasay City. We are working with boys ranging in age from 8 to 17, who are in need of special protection as well as with their families. The foundation is licensed and accredited as a child caring agency by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Pangarap is also a donee institution certified by the Philippine Council for Non-Government Organizations. Its work has been recognized locally and internationally, it has received several awards.
