Background
Sign Language Interpreters of Davao Region (SLIDAR) aims to provide quality FSL (Filipino Sign Language) interpretation services that facilitate effective communication between the Deaf community and the hearing population. Our goal is to develop a pool of competent and certified FSL interpreters in Davao Region. As a volunteer with SLIDAR, you can contribute to spreading Deaf advocacy, becoming a Deaf Ally, and gaining knowledge about the Language and Culture of the Deaf. Project/Position Title: Instructional Designer for FSL Training Modules
Scope Statement:
As an Instructional Designer for FSL Training Modules, your task will be to design and develop comprehensive instructional materials for FSL training programs. You will work closely with the SLIDAR team to identify learning objectives, create engaging instructional content, and design assessments to evaluate learners' progress. Your role is vital in ensuring that future FSL interpreters receive a rigorous and comprehensive training experience.
Role and Responsibilities:
As an Instructional Designer for FSL Training Modules, your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with the SLIDAR team to identify learning objectives and define the scope of the training modules
- Designing and developing instructional materials, including lesson plans, presentations, interactive activities, and multimedia resources
- Applying instructional design principles to create engaging and effective learning experiences for FSL learners
- Incorporating best practices in instructional strategies and assessment methods to support learners' skill development in FSL interpretation
- Reviewing and revising the instructional materials based on feedback and evaluation data to improve their effectiveness
Duration: Flexible (Based on availability and ongoing instructional design needs)
Skills and Experience:
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Strong knowledge and understanding of instructional design principles and practices
- Experience in designing and developing instructional materials, preferably in a related field
- Familiarity with FSL and the unique aspects of sign language instruction
- Proficiency in using instructional design software and multimedia tools
- Attention to detail and the ability to organize complex information into logical and coherent learning materials

Orientation Date: June 15
On June 15, we will conduct a virtual orientation for all volunteers. During this orientation, you will have the opportunity to meet the SLIDAR team, learn more about our organization, and receive detailed information about your role as an Instructional Designer for FSL Training Modules. It will also be a chance to address any questions or concerns you may have.
