Background

Sign Language Interpreters of Davao Region (SLIDAR) aims to provide quality FSL (Filipino Sign Language) interpretation services that facilitate effective communication between the Deaf community and the hearing population. Our goal is to develop a pool of competent and certified FSL interpreters in Davao Region. As a volunteer with SLIDAR, you can contribute to spreading Deaf advocacy, becoming a Deaf Ally, and gaining knowledge about the Language and Culture of the Deaf. Project/Position Title: Graphic Designer

Scope Statement:

Your task as a Graphic Designer will be to design the FAQs of SLIDAR. You will create visually appealing graphics that effectively present frequently asked questions and their corresponding answers, sign laguage training materials, social media contents and alike. Your designs will be instrumental in improving our communication with the community and ensuring that important information reaches our target audience.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Graphic Designer for SLIDAR, your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating with the SLIDAR team to understand the content and purpose of the FAQs
• Designing visually appealing graphics and layouts for the FAQs,Sign laguage training materials, social media contents and alike.
• Ensuring that the FAQs are easy to understand, visually engaging, and accessible to a wide audience
• Incorporating SLIDAR's branding elements and maintaining consistency in design
• Collaborating with the SLIDAR team to review and refine the designs based on feedback

Duration: Flexible (Based on availability and ongoing graphic design needs)

Skills and Experience:

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• Proficiency in graphic design software such as Canva or similar tools
• Strong design skills and a keen eye for visual aesthetics
• Ability to create engaging and informative graphics
• Understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and the ability to create designs that are inclusive

Availability:

This volunteer opportunity is virtual and offers flexibility in terms of working hours. We appreciate any amount of time you can dedicate to this project, and we can work around your schedule to ensure a smooth collaboration.

Orientation Date: June 15

On June 15, we will conduct a virtual orientation for all volunteers. During this orientation, you will have the opportunity to meet the SLIDAR team, learn more about our organization, and receive detailed information about the FAQs design project. It will also be a chance to address any questions or concerns you may have.
