Volunteer Event
Solar Hope is an NGO that provides solar and sustainable solutions to marginalized communities in the Philippines. Since 2017, they have lighted more than 2000 homes in remote and unelectrified areas in Region IV.
Project Tanglaw is Solar Hope's household electrification project that aims to light the households of remote and unelectrified areas. Part of Solar Hope's assessment if a community is fit for a Tanglaw project is through conduct of community ocular and profiling wherein the team visits the community for assessment. This is also to assess the logistics during the planning for the actual outreach.
Tanay, Rizal is one of the many areas that Solar Hope has been helping. More than 1000 homes have been lighted in Tanay alone. However, the mission is far from complete, there are still hundreds of households in Tanay that needs energy access. Also, there are remote schools without access to energy. The team is planning to conduct an ocular visit to assess the potential of repairing or upgrading the broken solar PV systems in these schools.
Hence, we need your help in visiting these prospect schools.
Volunteering Objectives:
(Every volunteer could be involved in at least one of these activities)
1. Solar Designer/Assesor - assisting in designing/assessing the needed solar capacity and setup for the school.
2. Electrical - check and verify the status of the electrical wiring of the existing solar PV system for possible re-wiring.
3. Mapping - take note the recommended locations of the solar equipment (solar panel, inverter, battery, charge controller)
4. Documentation - taking pictures and videos of the happenings.
Date of Ocular Visit is on May 13, 2023. (Participants will be advised if date to be changed due to weather condition or other possible reason)
More details on logistics would be provided to interested participants. There would be river crossing going to the community.
Join us as we explore new communities, we could become beacons of hope!
