Bayan-e-han: Your Online Community Pantry Companion

Introducing Bayan-e-han, your community pantry companion!

Volunteer from home to help our community pantries!

In this project, we are looking for passionate volunteers who wish to help our community pantries by volunteering online. We envision creating a platform that will be used by donors, suppliers, volunteers, and pantry organizers. 

 

The platform is aimed to ease the donation process and also to provide access to several donors inside and outside the Philippines. Through this platform, donors will either have the option to donate to their pantry of choice or will follow the recommendation the platform will provide based on data collected from the supply and demand to all pantries nationwide. 

 

Those who wish to volunteer, either on the ground or virtual, can sign-up and connect with pantry organizers through this platform. Those who wish to volunteer virtually will be assigned to a team under our “remote control group”, which will be explained later.

 

Suppliers can use the platform to provide a definitive list of their items for purchasing and the corresponding purchase price. Additionally, suppliers can be easily contacted by our pantry organizers through this platform.

 

Pantry organizers can use the platform in order to request for items, provide data about their pantries, request for volunteers, and request for help in general regarding their community pantry. The dedicated remote control group shall then cater to the requests from our pantry organizers.

 

Overall, the planned platform seeks to ease operations, improve recording of transactions, and improve data gathering to drive our community pantries forward towards sustainability and efficiency as needed so.

 

In the remote control group, we will need the following teams in order to ease the operational load from our pantry organizers. We will need logistics, publicity and communications, security, finance, web development, data analytics, people management, and marketing team members.

 

Logistics Team - The logistics team will handle the gathering of suppliers, contacting of suppliers, and scheduling and monitoring of suppliers to ensure that the demands of community pantry organizers are met. It is the role of this team to remove the burden of having to contact and search for suppliers on the end of community pantry organizers. Additionally, it is the role of the logistics team to ensure the most efficient possible balancing of supply and demand is made possible at the cheapest possible cost.

 

Publicity and Communications Team - This team shall be responsible for creating publicity posters and write-ups to ensure that the general public will be consistently informed about our community pantries. Through this team, we will build a positive image for our pantries to ensure our efforts will achieve the maximum possible reach, impact, and engagement publicly. Additionally, this team shall ensure that through publicity materials, the general public will collaborate in any means possible to help our kababayans.

 

Security - This team shall ensure the safety of our volunteers and members against any potential harm or threat. This team shall also validate several information, groups, and individuals who will take part on our endeavor.

 

Finance - This team shall make sure all transactions are properly recorded and reported for utmost transparency to our donors and the general public. Through transparency, we envision to entice donors not only to give more for our pantries but also to continue giving out to our community pantries as needed so.

 

Web Development - This team shall be responsible to create, maintain, develop, and improve our centralized platform.

 

Data Analytics - This team shall be responsible for data gathering, architecture, visualization, analysis, and translation to use data to our maximum advantage. The data shall be used to drive recommendations for our users and decisions for our remote control group. The data as well should be communicated to the public to give a more science-based approach on understanding our pantries and looking for potential areas for improvement of our community pantry endeavor.

 

People Management - This team shall be responsible for taking care of our volunteers in general. They shall ensure that all volunteers are well-aligned with the objectives and responsibilities of our group. And this team shall ensure that all volunteers and participants in our endeavor will also be taught the right core values that they will carry on to their future endeavors beyond this project.

 

Marketing - This team shall be responsible for seeking and contacting potential donors and sponsors for our community pantries. It is the role of this team not only to seek for donations but also to ensure that our sponsors and donors are always informed about our projects, and are always happy with our outputs. Lastly, it is the role of this team to ensure that our donors are well taken care of.
