UPDATE (JANUARY 15, 2019): Sorry for any inconvenience, we will need to reschedule the January 19 volunteer orientation. We have already contacted those who signed up prior to this announcement. For those interested to volunteer, you may opt to instead sign up for the January 26, 2019 volunteer orientation https://www.ivolunteer.com.ph/organizations/367/events/4160 or contact us (09157110245 or through www.facebook.com/RightStartInc) if you are not available on the scheduled volunteer orientation date.
VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION (1.5 hours)
IMPORTANT: The Volunteer Orientation is mandatory for all volunteers.
Right Start is a non-stock, non-profit, non-government organization that began as a response to the unmet needs of children living in poverty. As a community-based creative caring space, Right Start provides afterschool activities and classes where children are able to experience opportunities for play, creativity, and holistic development in a warm and responsive environment. We firmly believe that a well-designed afterschool program rich in supportive relationships will help empower the children to become innovative, resilient, compassionate, and productive members of society.
Do you want to share your time to facilitate/teach the following activities?
- Music (voice, instruments)
- Art (painting, drawing, etc.)
- Dance
- Reading, especially for children who need reading support
- Story-telling
- Tutorials
- Science
- Sports (basketball, table tennis, chess)
- Play
Sign up for an orientation! This volunteer orientation is required for all volunteers before engaging with the children.
Right Start needs volunteers who are:
- Passionate about children and nurturing their development and well-being
- Open to learning and being trained as needed
- Committed
- Able to abide by Right Start’s Child Protection policies (to be discussed during the orientation)
What you can expect as a volunteer:
- Rich and meaningful experiences
- Coordinating with Program Head about materials/resources needed, plans, and activities.
- Support and opportunities for learning and training
- An environment where children’s welfare is everyone’s utmost priority.
The impact you can make as a volunteer: In addition to the hard skills you will teach, you will become another person in the children’s lives who believes in their potential and cares by helping them develop key capacities such as regulating behavior, discerning, planning, making the right choices, collaborating, persevering, thinking critically, having a growth mindset, etc.
What to Wear: Please wear clothes that are casual, unrevealing, appropriate, and comfortable.
Confirm your attendance by texting 09157110245 and specifying that you heard about Right Start through iVolunteer.
Feel free to reach us if you have any inquiries.
