Volunteer Event
Help prepare workshop materials to be used at the Festival of Learning that starts on March 31 until April 13 in communities in Manila, Paco, North Cemetery and Calauan Laguna. We shall teach underprivileged children the value of recycling. You may also join in the visits to the communities. Please read details below.
Dear Friends,
Please join us for this year’s Festival of Learning, a summer arts and reading workshop program with underprivileged children living in Manila communities.
The theme for 2016 is "Mahal ko si Inang Kalikasan (I love Mother Nature).” This year our workshops will teach children the value of recycling through fun activities.
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life! Don’t worry if you do not have any formal teaching experience. As long as you have a genuine desire to help children living in poverty, then you will be perfect for the role.
We all meet up at the ATD office -- 1225 Labores Street, Pandacan, Manila -- before heading on together to the communities. You may also choose to go to the communities directly.
If you have questions or need help with directions contact our Festival of Learning lead facilitator Jeremy Ianni at +632 5639312 or 0929 2177039. You can also email us at philippines@atd-fourthworld.org. Actually, we'd prefer it if you let us know in advance that you are going to help so we can brief you.
Thank you and we hope to see you!
ATD FESTIVAL OF LEARNING 2016
Mahal ko si Inang Kalikasan (I love Mother Nature)
“All children, all your young people want to learn, want to know how to work, how to express themselves, want to carry the hope of their people.” – Fr. Joseph Wresinski, Founder of International Movement ATD (All Together in Dignity) Fourth World.
ATD’s Festival of Learning (FOL) is an educational, recreational and cultural event organized during summer school breaks every year. FOL aims to share and transmit different avenues of learning and cultures through interactive reading, storytelling, cooperative games, music and drama/theatre play-type presentations, art and crafts workshops between people living in underprivileged conditions and people from various backgrounds. It takes place to encourage cooperation in the community. It relies on the support and input from parents and community members. FOL also wishes to foster community building by bringing positive and constructive things to do and creating opportunities for the participation of everyone in fighting extreme poverty.
