Passerelles numériques (PN), a non-profit organization, is dedicated to enabling highly disadvantaged youths, through their abilities and their commitment, to access education and technical and vocational training, in the sector of Information Technology.
<div>Our scholars are all housed in our centers in Talamban, Cebu City, and enrolled in a special program, designed with the University of San Carlos, Talamban Campus. The course runs for two and a half (2.5) years, at the completion of which they are awarded a Certificate in Computer Technology. It allows them to find jobs as Software Developers, Software Testers and System & Network Administrators.</div> <div>Although the main classes and teachers are provided by the University of San Carlos, we rely a lot on volunteers for extra mentoring and coaching sessions during evenings, as well as remedial classes and other modules around IT during semester breaks and summer.</div> <div>It is required from our volunteers to have time, patience, willingness to work with young adults, ideally a previous experience in education, and of course IT hard skills as in: Java development, Python development, web development in JavaScript, networking, database, SQL, etc.</div>
